The ideal viewing distance depends primarily on the pixel pitch (the distance between the centers of two adjacent pixels). A general rule of thumb is: Minimum Viewing Distance: Pixel Pitch (mm) × 1.6 (for a detailed image) and Recommended Viewing Distance: Pixel Pitch (mm) × 3.3 to 8 (for a comfortable balance of detail and overall picture). For example, a P2.5 display (2.5mm pixel pitch) is best viewed from approximately 8 feet (2.5m) and beyond.

Pixel pitch is the most critical specification for indoor displays. It measures the density of pixels and directly determines the image's sharpness. A smaller pixel pitch means pixels are closer together, resulting in a higher resolution and a sharper image at closer viewing distances. For boardrooms and retail, a finer pitch (e.g., P1.2 - P2.5) is standard.
